Now what?

Hi
Just bought a 42pz80 and now looking for a dvd player to show its full potential!
I've looked into blue ray and i'm a little confused...should i buy a ps3 so i can 'update the firmware' for future upgrades/releases or buy a stand alone player and not worry?
I spoke to a friend who said a hdmi dvd player which upscaled was just as good?
I would like a 2.1 sound system with whatever you guys think.

personally i would go the ps3 route as opposed to a standalone blu ray player

Using the ps3 for mine and currently looking in to a surround sound system for it

Even a high quality DVD upscaling player won't look as good as a blu-ray player. But I must say very impressed with DVD quality, even with NTSC discs. Have watched 720p and 1080p also and they look superb.
