Time to switch the emptiness from my nr200p to my wallet. I would like to get your opinion on the list (I will be using the tg panel):
Ryzen r5 5600x
Asus strix b550-i (lowest placed socket, most coolers shouldn't touch the top fan and also could potentially allow higher coolers not touching the glass panel)
Crucial ballistix white rgb 2x8gb 3600mhz
Crucial p2 500gb ssd (might buy an additional ssd later)
I will use a friend's old gtx and the stock stealth cooler untill the new AMD cards arrive - might go for the 6800xt.
And as for the coolers here's the list I compiled over time sorted by preference:
be quiet pure rock 2 black (barely fits might touch the top fan just a bit)
scythe mugen 5 rev2 - conflicting reports, not sure if it's worth the risk
cryorig h7 quad lumi/ultra/plus - better suited for intel cpus I guess
ID-Cooling SE-224 RGB
scythe kotetsu mark 2
scythe ninja 5
raijintek leto pro rgb
big shuriken 3
noctua u9s chromax
alpenfohn Brocken Eco Advance - Doesnt fit at all as reported by Relentless81
Just a couple of things on the coolers.
Everyone seems obsessed in putting in the biggest cooler they can fit and fair play to them I thought the same but in my experience of my setup the smaller coolers outperformed the Scythe Mugen 5, I still don't know why this is but its possible its the baseplate of the cooler not suited to Ryzen 3000 series as it is for other CPUs
The Bequiet Pure Rock 2 is a risk, some people have managed to fit it, someone reported it took them a couple of attempts and I've read others couldn't fit with the TG panel so I didnt bother with this one, its not exactly the best 120mm cooler available either but I have had good experiance with Bequiet coolers on Ryzen CPUs however these were Dark Rocks
The Cryorig H7 again is a risk, lots of reports of poor performance on Ryzen but the 5600X is a new CPU so who knows
ID-Cooling, do you mean the SE-234? I wanted to try this cooler but again reports of it clashing with the TG panel. The IS-60 Evo top down cooler looks interesting but its not out yet
Scythe Kotetsu, some comments on poor performance out there, probably again due to the base, I'm sure this is the exact cooler where someone proved the issue with the base on Scythe coolers by lapping it and then getting better performance. Same risk with the Ninja 5 and Big Shuriken
Raijintek Leto Pro RGB, I'm sure this is way over spec for the TG panel?
Noctua NH-U9S Chromax, this is what I'm currently using and will be sticking with, it fits perfectly absolutely no concerns on fitment issues and looks great. It can be heard but a fan profile sorts most of that out, I don't hear it when browsing or gaming now so I'm much happier with it and ordered another fan for it. This little cooler beats the Mugen 5 in my setup. Only issue is, its expensive especially with a second fan.
alpenfohn Brocken Eco Advance, I was really disappointed with this, the cooler looked good quality for the money but that proprietary back plate just why!? Why cant they just the standard backplate like everyone else. Here's the thing though, the B550i Pro AX socket is a bit higher up than most, your board might allow it to fit as the backplate might clear the motherboard mounting bar so it might be worth the risk as I have a feeling the base of this cooler might be well suited to the Ryzen IHS and give good performance, or I could be wrong. To add insult to injury I had to pay to send it back so I'm done with ordering coolers and messing about now and sticking with the Noctua, OCUK wont be first choice anymore either when ordering items because I can order elsewhere and send it back no questions asked free of charge.
