90% of the time I can fix a problem on someone elses pc, however this has me stumped. I'm trying to fix a problem related to a NTdll.dll file appcrash that appears nearly every time certain apps are loaded such as Skype or SecondLife, even games.

System file scan shows up as no problems, microsoft's fix it says it's ok and apart from a complete format I'm not sure what to do.

Can anyone suggest anything? If I've done it already i'll mention as such :)

WINDOWS 8, I3, 8GB Memory
 
I had a problem with this on a new Windows 8 laptop with Origin/Sim City. Disabling the Origin "in game" chat feature seemed to work for me, but I'd be interested if you find some link between your issues as this obviously wont work for Skype.
 
Start disabling all services and programs loaded on startup (is msconfig still around in win8?)
Try disabling your AV
You could dig out ProcessMonitor and see if that gives you any extra info
 
Fixed it! Unbelievable what caused it and pushed me to the brink of burning myself in a rage of fire...

It came up with two simples words in a search, ATI+ATI TRAY TOOLS and sure enough people were having problems with NTDLL.DLL causing grief with other apps such as skype, firefox e.t.c. Disabled Ati Tray tools, everything works.

Isn't ATI Tray Tools very old now? Looking at Wikipedia, the last stable release was over three years ago and the latest preview release is coming up to two years old.

It was great software though, used to use it on all my machines that utilised ATi cards.
 
Very old graphics card, needing very old ati legacy drivers! CCC is rather unstable because of this and such Ati Tray tool was needed. Also the fact it's windows 8 and there are no legacy drivers for the x1900 & Windows 8

I have no idea why a such an old graphics card was placed with such a more modern board and cpu, it's retarded. It's one of those my mates mate builds computers type :/

But anyway this is only until Tuesday when a new power supply and 4890 will be put in instead
