NTFS Partitions

I have a couple of drives that are NTFS that I want to put in a Ubuntu server but keep the data, can I do that?

Ubuntu is capable of reading and writing files stored on Windows formatted partitions. These partitions are normally formatted with NTFS, but are sometimes formatted with FAT32.

I used Parted Magic to move some stuff to an NTFS partition the other day and it came with a huge CPU overhead. Probably depends on the driver but something to be aware of.

I may do some moving around and reformat the drives to ext3/4
