Hi there,

I have followed the guides on the net to uninstall my beta version of vista and it seems to have done the trick. However the partition that it was on , has reformnatted to ntfs version 0.0 and as such I can't use partition magic to merge the partitions due to xp home partitions being 3.1.

Does anyone know how to change the ntfs version? If i try a reformat via xp, either from my computer or disk management, I get the error message that some other program is using that partition. Doubtful as there is nothing on it.

Any help greatfully received.

Is page filing on that partition?

No paging file on partition f, the partition that vista was instaled onto. Paging file on C is left as standard, 1.5x memory.

There does however seem to be a file on f, even after the format, it is labelled recycler and seems to be nprotect.exe, some part of nortons misguided attempt at replacing the recylce bin. I dont know how this got there after a format, and it will not remove/ delete.

how about, in partition manager, boot up with a floppydisk of partion manager on, format the partition in that, and make sure u chose NTFS xp version (3.1 as you say).
once that is done, boot into xp and then join the together?

can you not delete the vista partition and then extend your existing partition to take up the free space? or is your setup a little more complicated than that? :p

Will give this a go when I get back tonight, thanks for the suggestion.

Had managed to clear off nprotect.exe and get 1 of the ntfs0.0 partitions to merge, but not the partition that held vista.

Your suggestion kinda feels like it should work, crosses fingers
