NTL and slow DL speed..

Over the past week, Ive seemed to be experience slow Download and Upload speeds with NTL, even though im supposedly on 4mb. :eek:

I did a speed test and it reports my D/L speed is only 32kb/sec and my U/L is at 43kb/sec :confused:

Hmm, I got these

1st 128K took 547 ms = 239620 Bytes/sec = approx 1994 kbits/sec
2nd 128K took 546 ms = 240059 Bytes/sec = approx 1997 kbits/sec
3rd 128K took 563 ms = 232810 Bytes/sec = approx 1937 kbits/sec
4th 128K took 547 ms = 239620 Bytes/sec = approx 1994 kbits/sec

Yet on normal Downloads im only gettin around 35kb/sec.. Ive asked a few people in my area and they gettin around the same.. So they might be doing some maintenance or something, i guess.

thats still only 2mb, have you reset your modem since the speed upgrades ?

Yes, it was all ok, till about a week ago.. Now it seems most people in my area are experiencing it.. bloody NTL.. :eek:

i am an NTL user too (but on teesside) mines fine at the moment (touch wood)

i would ring them up, get them to sort it out.

if its a lot of people in your area then it could be down to typical telewest having too many customers, happened round mine, still having the bad effects until they decide to upgrade :\

I had a similar problem just over a week ago but were only getting 1mb speeds on my 4mb connection.I phoned ntl and for some reason i had been dropped down to 1mb.For my inconvenience i was put straight back upto 4mb and given £25 credit to my account and £19.99 a month for the next 6 months.It might be worthwhile giving them a ring to make sure.
