Hi,

Has anyone's NTL broadband connection gone a bit slow over the past few days? Mine seems to have, although I didn't really notice it till today. I have the 4mb connection and at the minute it only seems to be managing under 1mb connection speed. Average download speed is down to about 60-65kb/s, which is very slow considering I should be getting at least a 400kb/s download speed! I asked my mate who lives on the other side of town and he reckons he's getting about 200kb/s download speed which is still half what it should be. I've tried a few broadband speed tests which confirm it.
I've looked on NTL's service status page which mentions a possible loss of service in Oxford this morning which is about 30 miles away but nothing around here. I know NTL is getting a new webpage and all that but it couldn't slow down service as well could it?

Cheers, Tony :)

First gave me 2.1 megabits per second.

Second 3437kbps

First site has always been dodgey for me tho mate even on last isp
Thanks. I can't do the first one again as it says I can only try three test a month on this ip number. The second one gave me 3474 which sounds like it's getting close.

To test your download speed, try Here

Just pick a biggish file (e.g BF1942 demo) and see what your download speed is. I find it a good way to see if my connection is slow - i'm with blueyonder.
I just had a go and it averaged between 395-410 kb/s. Getting better! Cheers. :D

When i posted here i was new to NTL. Since then my 4mb servies has been lagging me out of wow a lot. High pings.

And now when i try that bf demo download ive only been getting 200/230 all week, i used to get 400/500.

Anyone else having problems recently?
I've got NTL 4mb also, I just tried downloading the BF1942 demo again and was getting around 400kb/s on average. That's pretty good, but I'm sure it should still be a bit higher - I seem to remember getting around 460kb/s up until a while ago. If it keeps up at this 400kb/s speed then I think I might get onto NTL (or is it VirginMedia now?) and try and find out what's going on. :)
