Hey.

I checked on their service status page and it mentions "national maintenance" and my internet is basically a snail in the Bedfordshire area. Anyone else having the same enjoyable internet experience as I?

I noticed it too.

especially in the evening. They should make businesses have slower and work in the day at fixing. They don't, sorry shouldn't, be playing games and stuff in the day anyway. lol.

Hi

lots of peeps suffering including yours truely at times on Telewest ... seems to have co-incided with the 20Mb trials in some areas

might also consider its possible contention and then again ntl:Telewest have admitted to 'traffic management' in certain areas at certain times between 6 & 11pm though they dont say where and what triggers it but its only supposedly to control p2p protocols hammering the system

tried to get a database going at News-Shack see if we could figure out which areas but so far no one has bothered to take time to give stats but the thread is still open if anyone wishes to join in

Well, I have no bit torrent programs running (or another other stuff like Kazaa) and went to the speed test, and it didnt even start :/

I am guessing they are doing stuff again... Great... a few months of perfect internet then bye bye again :(

My download speeds are great - same as always, but browsing has been a little bit dodgy. Even browsing has been ok today though.

yes but i rang up telewest and next day, this tech guy came round and fixed the problem.

the problem was siginal is too high due to up/down temperature.

on my http://192.168.100.1/signal.html page;
the Downstream's Power Level was 12dBmV and now is 3 dBmV.
the Upstream's power level was 38dBmV now is 52 dBmV.

after this changed. the problem gone away =).

I don't think I've ever had a problem with NTL in the year or so I've been with them.. I just re-upgraded from 4mb to 10mb yesterday, it went through immediately and I was downloading linux isos at >1.1mb/sec speeds :)

I love my NTL connection... :D about to get my fourth year anniverserary in Feb. In all that time I have lost my connection only three times. Twice in the first year due to overheating on the network at the start of summer (an issue they fixed quickly) And once this summer it went out for 24 hours - but their support phone line knew all about it.

As an IT Support engineer I have to regularlly deal with the problems of all the other ISPs and am shocked as to how bad it often is. (One business without their Pipex Broadband for a whole WEEK!!!)

NTL's support staff are hopeless... but then so are most of the other major ISPs. Almost any of them who off load support to a cheaper off-shore call centre ends up with script reading monkeys... pay peanuts, get monkeys.

If there are a few speed ripples because of tests of 20Mb trials.... well, that is going to be temporary... then we will be laughing and the loooodricous speeds of cable :D :D
