Just received my first bill from NTL and it's got loads of call charges on it.

Do you know what they class as 'evening' calls? I have the 'Talk Unlimited Local' package so should get them free of charge, but does the evening start at 6 or 7 - I couldn't find the info on their website and I'm not ringing them only to spend 15 minutes in a queue!

Cheers,
James

Evening call charged will apply to any calls you make that are over one hour in the evening (Which is 6pm -8am IIRC). If you want free phone redial after 59 minutes.

I've just had a whole set of problems with NTL:

First of all the unlimited call package isn't that at all. Apparently, you can only make any one call last up to an hour. Go over that time and they charge you for the lot! Stupid.

The Talk Unlimited package should be included with my family pack but they've been charging me separately. I tried telling them this, saying that I have the offer leaflet stating that the family pack includes the Talk Unlimited package at £30 but it took ages to convince them. They were saying they didn't do it and I'm saying, "but I'm holding the leaflet in my hand which clearly states you do!".

I had a separate cable modem installed as my set top box was causing problems. They've continued to charge my account for both devices so now they've had to credit my account well over £200! I didn't notice because I continued to get my normal bill but they never bothered sending out one for my cable modem (installed last April) so I never noticed. The only reason I became aware of it was because of my recent upgrade to 10Mb which for some reason, actually generated an email...

So, check your statements is the moral of the story...

BT are the same I believe.

I agree about checking your bills closely with ntl - in my (bitter) experience they are a useless company and I have had lots of trouble with them in the past over billing which has taken hours and countless phone calls to sort out.
