Hi,

I am interested in getting NTL provided to my flat, since I am unable to put a sky dish up. The porter of the block is insistent that cable is routed into the property, but speaking with a salesperson at NTL and according to their website, I am unable to get a service. There are two wall sockets, one in the master bedroom which gives immaculate signal for freeview and one in the lounge which gives no freeview signal at all. When connected the feed in the lounge provideds channels 1-5 as well as BBC New 24, Sky One, Sky Movies 2, some foreign channel as well as an out of focus, half scrambles Sky Sports 1. It also has a white page, with an NTL logo in the right bottom corner and something about bid-up tv.

My question is two-fold; as I appear to have some feed which is not a standard aerial, what is it? And secondly, if it is NTL, who do I go about getting connected, since NTL seem to be under the impression they do not service my flat?

TIA

Unfortunately not. I have removed the wall socket to origianlly see if there was a dodgy connection which is why I was unable to get freeview, but when I found I received some Sky channels, thats when I assume it was some other feed. The bizarre thing is that the master bedroom has a standard freeview aerial, whereas the lounge doesn't.

As for the wires behind the socket, they look old and IIRC there were two wires connected to the socket plate. As I said in the previous post, when I asked the Porter if there was cable service in the building, he was under the impression there was and that it could be connected on subscription by making a connection in relevant boxes situated on each floor of the block...

Does this shed any light?
