Hi there

I am trying to set up a set top box and router,

it keeps asking me to register the mac address of the router, which i do but still no connection.

I have a connection from the pc to the set top box to the internet, so know its the router.

Phoned NTL support what a waste of time that was.

I have tried rebooting the set top box, the router and the pc, I have alos tried copying the mac address of the pc to the router.

Every time it take me to the ntl computer provision screen and it is driving me wild.

What am I am doing wrong, somebodt mentioned trying turning things on in a different order. For exmaple turn the router on let it settle down, then turn the set top box let it settle down and then and onyl then the PC.

Got to a stage where I might buy an ntl modem and cable splitter and bypass the set top box if possible

If you ask NTL for a modem they should send you one FOC.My sister had problems trying to set up her ntl through a set top box, and in the end she asked for a modem.

make sure the ether net connection from the set top box is connected to the
WAN port on the back of the router. connect your pc to the router as well
then login to the box and make sure the box connection protocols are set to
DHCP save settings reboot both the the set top box and the router

then the internet light should be on

makes sure your browser is set to never dial a connection
witch can be done by going to the IE5,6+ browser Tools> Internet Options>
Connection tab..

also don't use the NTL setup cd
