Hi

Since yesterday my brother and I have been unable to send any emails using our VM/NTL email addresses, we've made no changes to the network apart from rebooting the router (we were having problems with the connection playing up browsing), and zero changes to our PC's yet when either of us try to send email via the NTL SMTP servers we get

Windows Mail error said:
An unknown error has occurred. Subject 'testing', Account: 'pop.ntlworld.com', Server: 'smtp.ntlworld.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '421 aamtaout04-winn.ispmail.ntl.com connection refused from [213.107.xxx.xxx]', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 421, Error Number: 0x800CCC67

About the only thing I can see that has changed in the past few days is that sometime Wednesday Evening/Thursday morning we must have changed IP as it was an NTL IP in the 84 range on Wednesday, but from Thursday (when the problem started) it's been a 213 Virginmedia IP address.

ok, that was slightly weird.
I closed down the email client for the umpteenth time since yesterday and it sent the emails, my brother also reports his emails went a few minutes later.

I guess the IP address wasn't being recognised by VM's email servers as being valid VM IP's or something as nothing else changed at our end bar the ip address just before the problem started.

I had problems with the SMTP service a few days ago on my phone - think it must have been a small issue on their side...
