NTL & Speeds

Hi there,

I started with NTL BBand ages ago on the 150k service, was upgraded to 350k and then to 512k.

Did they then upgrade the 512k to 1meg or is it me thinking they did. Just been on the website and the slowest they sell is 1meg at 17.99 which is what I am paying. My speeds when checked are in the region of 433K so this made me believe I am on 512k.

Just checked the modem and low and behold got the operation config which says that I have a maximum download of 512000bps (512k).

So is it meant to be 1meg thoughout ? before i hassle them.

yeah 512k hasnt been around for a while. when was the last time you unplugged your modem? try it if you haven't, it should download an update. failing that, try their tier migration tool on their website

512k is one of the tiers ntl offer, it has not been upgraded to 1mb.

300k customers were moved to 1mb and then the 512k was introduced afterwards.

ntl dont offer 512kb anymore. at least it's not on ther website. its 1mb,4mb and 10mb. all those inbetween those speeds should really sort their upgrades out i guess.

its still there, right at the very top in writing

once you enter a postcode its featured more

Thanks all,

Contacted NTL tonight they agreed with a bit of persuading that I am on 512k and that that was unlimited downloads.

They also agreed that the 1meg service is unlimited and that they are both the same price.

They then asked if I really wanted the upgrade, so I thought and said YES if I am paying for it.

So thank you all for sortiing it. They will have it done for Monday they say.

thought all the ntl packages had no download caps at the moment ????

They don't
