NTL "unlimited 10mb"

Might interest the BPI. ;)

Note that it's "up to" 10Mb, I rarely got over 7Mb when downloading so I'm back on the 2Mb now that the upgrades are coming through.

As long as people dont take the michael too much im sure it will be fine. I stuck within the 75 gig a month religiously when they enforced it. Now ill have a bit more fun though :)

i believe there going to start traffic shaping a lot more now anyways. I'm on their 10meg and its awful tbh. Loss and poor speeds. Can only get worse really with making it unlimited.

Is it possible to download 2TB in a month on a 10mbps connection?
Assuming you get the full 10Mbps, you weren't limited on the server end and you hammered the connection 24/7 (which technically isn't possible), in theory you would be able to get 3.2TB. I'd say 2TB is feasible, but as others have said, I think NTL would find some clause in the T&C's (do they have a Fair Use Policy?) and get rid of you sharpish if you tried to transfer that much ;)

If you're constantly filling your bandwidth up and down then they can legitimately claim that you are adversely affecting service to other users. I expect them to clamp down on the very heavy P2P users, because upstream causes more trouble than down. I doubt they'll hassle people who have a habit of downloading gigs of "Linux ISOs" a day from usenet, for example, as they won't really stand out in the crowd of problem users.

FWIW, I've been with NTL for 6 years now, always top-tier and regularly breaking the limits (but not massively). I've never been contacted and when you see stats from ISPs showing how their usage patterns break down, it's obvious why -- the problem guys are stuffing their pipes 24/7, everyone else is nowhere near.
