Hi guys, just need a little advice before I ring VM.

Im currently with NTL/VM for TV/Phone/BB, the contract commenced on 06/06/06 so im still within the initial 12month contract period however... I have been given notice that I must leave my current property on 30/05/07.

I will be moving to my parents property where NTL/VM is already installed in my name anyway, but would this situation be considered as me taking my contract with me or are they 2 seperate contracts?

With this in mind where do I stand with regards to VM cancellation charging? as I understand if I cancel within the 12 month period im liable for all service charges until the end of the 12 month period as well as a £50 cancellation fee.

Cheers.

I used to work in the department you'll be calling :) You'll be billed the remaining time at the minimum package price (eg if you have 10mbit they will bill you for 2mbit) as it's two seperate contracts with two seperate account numbers so no continuation is possible. A load ofother variables exist but it's not worth going into them unless you need to ...

Well the saga continues... rang VM cancellations to be passed to a different department as the reason for me leaving VM is that im moving house.

After a lengthy convo with Cancellations (Moving House) I was told as im moving to an existing VM customers property (Me) there would be no cancellation charges.

Then agreed that 29/05/07 would be the date for services disconnection along with the collection of their equipment :D yay.

But then 2 hours later disaster strikes.... services get disconnected there and then :( another lengthy call to general CS this time only to be told that the systems are down and to ring again today.

As im in work till 5.30 ill just have to bide my time.

In short, I shouldve known it was too good to be true. :(

Please please please make sure you send a letter sent recorded delivery.

protect yourself in case you have any problems, its well worth £1 recorded delivery. we all know that what CS say and what they do can be two completely different things. (oh and the computers at CS have a bad case of Alzheimers)

i know this from experience... I sent a cancellation via 1st class recorded but ntl kept sending me bills, i kept telephoning to say i have sent my letter in writing informing you of my 30 days notice it should have been disconnected by now.

4 month later, letter came through the door saying 'if you do not pay £xxx amount soon your details will be passed to a debt collection dept'. In the end I had to scan in the RM receipt and prove i had sent the letter.

Cheers sending a letter basically saying the same as the telephone convo yesterday.

I had problems with them when I cancelled my bb/tv/phone well outside of the original 12 months (6 years outside)
I said I wanted to port my number to BT and they said fine, all went well I had a date from NTL to port my telephone number over to BT and sure enough on the day the number changed to the BT line.
2 months later I had a bill from NTL asking for line rental for the phone. I rang cc who said you still have a telephone with us the which I replied "I can't have I'm talking to you on a BT line on a number that you released to them" they said you can't be, 30 minutes later they said they would cancel the debt.
Guess what when I go back to them 18 months later for BB they say you still owe us £xxx

My advice is do everything in writing and keep the copies of them forever, they are so disorganised you never know what will happen with them.
