Had a flier through the door today and for the same price as what I pay for a phone line from BT and internet from F2S, I can get phone, internet and Cable TV also.
My question is, has there customer service improved at all from what I used to hear about them years ago? Also people who already use NTL, how do you rate them? Are you happy with them etc.
On the techincal side of things, does the broadband come out of the STB or would I get a separate modem for that?

Thanks.

I've got a few people at work hooked up with ntl and the story is the same as it was when I was a customer. When it works, it works well, but when it goes wrong you're stuffed. My cable modem would regularly drop out for a day or two and as I work from home I can't accept that.

Personally I'd never go back to them even though I can get a 10Mbit connection from them. Having the speed isn't much use when the thing is down so often.

You may get a seperate modem or you may have to use the STB, that's a regional thing I believe which you have no control over. I had a standalone cable modem.

Hi, i'm not sure if problems are regional or not but i've never had any problems that couldn't be solved without resetting the STB for one min, then turning it back on. I find the speed is fine (im on the 2mb connection) and i dont see me moving to adsl until i move house there is a good price difference between NTL & ADSL + we dont have a BT line so we would need re-connecting again.

Hope that helps.

Hmm, looks like I'm going to have to find some local users and see what their opinion of the local service is. Thanks for comments.

Service in my region tends to be pretty good these days, the one big problem i've had was it taking 4 call outs to sort our STB's (all 3 needed replacing to get interactive working and only one box could be swapped at a time).
