Hi,
Having just formatted and installed windows on a new hdd, I found out my primary hdd was in the 3rd sata port rather than the 1st, so i moved it to the 1st port. Now when i boot, i get a message saying "NTLDR" is missing press ctrl+alt+del to restart. Now if i press F8 during the bios load and choose to boot of the 1st sata, then xp boots fine and im on it now, but unless i do that i get the error message.
I have gone into the xp recovery and fixboot/fixmbr to no effect, i have made 100% sure that the 1st sata is set as the primary hdd in the bios and that is the default boot device, but this dosnt seem to work only choosing it in the boot menu works. I have checked boot.ini and it looks fine, and there is also an ntldr file in c:\.
Please can someone tell me how to fix this without formatting , If it matters i have 2 other IDE hdds.
Thanks
Jack
