So here it goes. my brother bought a new motherbaord and cpu, installed it all fine.

Now he installed his old windows on his 750gig, and it kept crashing, because it was a dodgy version...

Today he bought vista ultimate, wants to install it, and keeps getting NTLDR missing before he can even instal vista. He now has no clue what to do now.

Any ideas or more info you need?

Well I fixed the problem, but all the things you reccomended didnt work.

thanks anyways.

I fixed it using a program ( hard disk low level format tool setup its called) that removes everything from the harddrive, even files a format doesn't remove. it took 4 hours and then I put it back in the PC and it would work.

If you get this error, it means that there is a file on your harddrive telling your pc that there is something installed, which is why it won't boot or let you install windows.
