I’m currently running a nuc5PPYH as a Kodi box, connected to the TV via HDMI for video and to my AV receiver via toslink for surround sound.
I’ve just upgraded the tv to a Samsung 4k and discovered the nuc only outputs 4k@ 30fps, and my AV receiver doesn’t support 4k so I can’t plug the NUC directly in the receiver …
So, I’m looking to update the NUC but no recent NUC seem to have an optical audio out or more importantly a consumer RF receiver.
I’m considering a used NUC8i3BEH, which has an HDMI port and a USB-C /DP 1.4 port for dual display, could I use the usb-c port for video to the tv and the HDMI to send audio to the AV receiver? I'd be using windows 10 on the NUC.
I realise a 4k compatible receiver would solve the issue too but would rather not shell out for one when I’ve got my current one set up just as I like it…
Any helpful input welcomed
