Number 4 wont work, IM SWEET, virus?

Hi,

My friend brought his laptop over because there was a virus or spyware coausing his number 4 button to be going none stop.

I have used spybot and detected IMSWEET. i removed and it stopped the number 4 button going crazy.

Now his number 4 button doesnt work :confused::confused::confused:

Anyone know what else i can do or what this is.
 
Have a look at the keyboard preferences, try switching to another (say uk to us) then deleting the original, then reinstalling it and going back to the original layout again?

Things like that are what I'd try, but you may still have some co-habiting malware on the machine hooking the keyboard that you need to hunt (using hijackthis etc.) and eradicate. Like, some malware comes in the form of a keylogger, some other malware comes in the form of something that uses the data from the keylogger. You may have found/removed the latter but not the former.
 
Are you sure it's not just a broken keyboard? Quite often on laptops the keys are stuck in.

Either buy a new keyboard or take it apart and look (have a spare at hand!)


-boot a linux disc like Ubuntu and see if the key is fine or not in that... to rule it out
