There's a teeny bit more to this story but basically our road is fibre enabled.

I checked this morning and number 67 is ready to go, number 71 is ready to go, I'm at number 69 and I'm not.

However number 69 doesn't exist anymore, it's now a small block of flats and if I put my postcode in it says no dice, if I put the postcode in for what would have been number 69 its all good.

So, I understand we may well be on a different box or line or something but plonked right in the middle of a switched on area I find it hard to believe that I shouldn't be able to order a new line or something, or request an engineer visit to figure out whats going on, I also find it hard to believe anyone is going to rush to come and sort out a tiny spot of no coverage unless I or we or someone makes a fuss.

So to anyone who knows about these things.. how likely is it that I'm on an island of no fibre coverage in a pretty built up and fully covered area?

And following on from that, what would be my procedure or chances of coercing BT, SKY or whoever (I'm with BE at the moment) to install a fibre line? Within reason consider cost not an option as it would likely be expensed anyway.

Thanks!

Try calling them? It could just be a postcode database issue that they haven't updated. Just explain that your immediate neighbours can get the service but you'd like them to check it over.

I'll make some calls but I did go on live chat with BT and SKY this morning which got me precisely nowhere!

Have you tried phoning or are you just working from the online availability checkers? It does just sound like could be an error in their data which needs correcting.

Edit: too slow

Not surprising really! Try giving them a call, it's likely to take a bit of work from you because the sales person you speak to will probably be working from the same database as the postcode checker on their website, but just be insistent that other people on your street have the service available to order and ask them if they can put you in touch with someone who might be able to make additional checks.

It probably isn't going to be a simple solution though!

Drop them a quick email explaining the situation (include your phone number) and ask them to look into it.

There is a chance that there was no spare capacity in the cabinet when the flats where built to accommodate 14+ new lines and they were subsequently connected to a different cab which is not yet enabled.

My area has been FTTC enabled for a few years now, but still no sign of my cab being converted, is it worth sending that email address an enquiry, if its not getting done in the next 6 months, I may as well go Virgin while I wait.

Cheers, Des.

had this problem with virgin, get in touch which ever company takes your fancy and explain the situation.

with virgin they assigned it to a team, and they had to do a survey etc.

keep on top of them with deadlines they might give you as they are forgetful/busy, if no deadlines give them follow up calls every couple of weeks/month.
