Had a quick search but can't turn up anything, and it's a little vague to search for...

Does using all four memory slots with Sandybridge affect overclocking potential? I know I can't hit 3.6 on my Q6600 with four slots filled but two is fine.

I'd be looking for 16 GB if it doesn't but 8 is certainly not an issue if it does. I'd rather overclock more.

As the memory controller is on the CPU the problems associated with using all 4 slots doesn't seem to be the issue it used to be.

Forum banter seems to indicate that using all 4 DIMM slots on an SB setup is less effected again - and that it doesn't effect your ultimate clock - certainly not a respectable clock (i.e. 4.5/4.6GHz).

You may get the odd rogue controller but as yet i haven't read that anyone has any problems retaining their existing clocks using all 4 slots on a SB setup.

I noticed no difference between 2 sticks vs 4 sticks with my overclock.

2500k at 4.2 though.. so take it for what it's worth

when i saw the title i thought this was a joke thread about usb flash drives or memory cards - then realised you were talking about RAM sticks :p
