I'm just curious, I got myself down to 16 on startup. :)

I hit around 20-25 after a few days however.

Kaiju, the nvsvc32.exe isn't a critical service and you don't need it running at start-up, so you could get it down to 15 processes.
Awesome mate, always post these kinds of threads in the hope that other people will give tips, pointers, advice. Been a long while too since someone gave a helping hand as i'm always researching new ways of improving my system. For that, much gratitude goes your way. :D

Anyway, that's actually 14 now as I forgot to discredit the task manager process. ;)

Dual core will take full advantage of processes, however for single core users like myself, there is a veritable cornucopia of possibilities with that extra power. Believe me. ;)

I actually "use" my pc :p
Riiiight, cuz it's theoretically possible to multi-task with that amount of processes :p (I bet you don't use half of them frequently).

Seriously though, you not thought about terminating programs when you're not using them?

Maybe I should've called the thread, how many processes on startup. :D

whats the point in this? My laptop currently has 59 processed running, its not a monster spec machine, yet it runs just fine like that.
The point is my curiosity if you read the first post and how you find your system with that amount. If you run 59 processes and your system runs fine, all the more power to you. No one ever said running more processes will equate to your own personal system being sluggish.

Once again, my curiosity was the point of this thread if you didn't get it the first time round. :)
