Number plate help needed

I need some help and advice with number plates.

I want to keep the number plate from my existing car and put it on a new one. What time scale would this take, and any idea on costs?

To then put a number plate on the original car, again what time scale am I looking at, and any idea of costs?

The plate I'm keeping means nothing to anyone, just sentimental attachment.

@Dyson is the number plate a private plate that you have the rights to? Or is it a standard age related plate that was assigned to your current car at first registration by the dealership supplying the car?

It's the number originally given to the the car

As long as the current V5c doesn't state that the registration number is non-transferrable, then you should be fine to apply to retain it.

A new age related plate will then be assigned to the current vehicle that will likely be marked as non-transferrable.
