Number plate screws - can you buy them?

I'm in the process of fixing up my Mk3 Golf a bit, so that I can keep it looking nice in its final few years

I'm getting a few bits of rust sorted this week, but one thing I need to sort are the number plate screws. The screws themselves (front and back) are rusted to the point that you can't easily unscrew them, and the the yellow caps that go over them are either cracked or have fallen off alltogether.

So can I buy new screws and caps? Or will I need to pop along to the VW dealer? Ta

Halfords. You will have to ask for them though.

Ahh ok, couldn't find them on the website. Are they a standard size?

Motorfactors should keep them, and probably cheaper than halfords.

I generally find out the diameter and thread pitch (can never remember) and then go to a specialty fastener shop and get nylon bolts. Never have to worry about rust, and they look quite good on there in all thier white glory!!

Just have to remember to put nylon washers behind the plate as nylon bolts won't tighten enough to prevent the plate from rattling without them.

Ive personally always used sticky pads to hold the reg in place, looks far neater.
