Hey peeps, looking to get a new rear number plate, any suggestions where and any problems to look out for?
May get one slightly smaller, barely. Mine has the original dealer detail on the bottom, looks ****.

I believe they HAVE to have the name of the compnay who made the plate up on it.

As for size, someone I know has a smaller, and not legal, plate and she always changes it back to the original plate for the MOT. She's never been stopped but that doesn't mean you wouldn't of course.

Search for Show plates, of course this is purely for bike shows where you want to show off your hard work.

7x5 here, £8 off ebay.

Never had any problems in 5yrs. Even when stopped by a policeman.

I have 8x6 on both of my bikes. Looks much better than standard without attracting any unwanted police attention.

This is what I was thinking. Where abouts from? Ideally I'd like a good quality, properly space, proper font plate, just 8x6.

I've used THESE for the last 4-5yrs. Not as cheap as eBay, but you can order suitable nuts/bolts n sticky pads etc. too.

I normally run with 7x5, never had an issue after stopping and talking to the Police many times. Got a 8x6 on my Speedy, but that's mainly due to the size of the mounting plate it fixes to.

Edit: Never had to change them for MOTs either, but I guess that depends on how well you get on with your tester ;)

Cheers for the link, that looks great! :)
I assume the plates are still reflective etc so legal apart from the size?

I trimmed my (standard sized) plate down the other day when I noticed that whoever had made it had put all the letters in at an angle compared to the edges of the plastic. Technically a bit naughty as it doesn't have the manufacturer or BS writing at the bottom any more, but I doubt I'm going to be stopped for that.

Ummmm, I don't care for the law when it comes to plates, never had an issue or been pulled for it on all of my bikes.

Technically classed as "show plates", but basically the same as normal plates bar the size and dealer name etc.

You can actually choose to have your own subtitle on the bottom of the plate if you want too :) And various finishing options, like 3D lettering/honeycomb background etc.

I always have a slogan at the bottom. Previously it was 'Me gusta'. Now it's simply 'boom'. I keep the lettering standard though.
