Number Plates

i heard that they are seen more clearly in low visibility and foggy weather, of which england has rather a lot.
same with the old french plates, and the dutch ones.
 
probably so the back can be distinguished from the front - as stupid as it sounds

I wouldnt be surprised if that was the case in america but here? :p

It doesn't make sense though - every other country in Europe has white front and rear plates (except the Netherlands, but they're a crazy bunch anyway ;) ). Weather can't be a reason, plenty of other places have worse weather than us.

Maybe we just like being awkward. :P
 
france had yellow on the back and white on the front like the UK until last year, when they changed the whole system as they ran out of combinations
