Is it legal to have both back and front plates white? or does the rear have to be yellow?

probably so the back can be distinguished from the front - as stupid as it sounds

i heard that they are seen more clearly in low visibility and foggy weather, of which england has rather a lot.
same with the old french plates, and the dutch ones.

I wouldnt be surprised if that was the case in america but here?

It doesn't make sense though - every other country in Europe has white front and rear plates (except the Netherlands, but they're a crazy bunch anyway ). Weather can't be a reason, plenty of other places have worse weather than us.

Maybe we just like being awkward.

france had yellow on the back and white on the front like the UK until last year, when they changed the whole system as they ran out of combinations
