Numberplate printing rules

I got one done yesterday with V5 and Driving licence without any questions. Seems odd. Did charge me £14 though which is a bit excessive i thought, but needed it for MOT first thing this morning so didn't have time to shop around. Halfords was the only place open yesterday that did them.

What i wondered was why he required my address and phone number to print it? I mean, surely the car is registered in my name so he has the address and number already? What did Halfords require with it?

No, its one of the ocuk rules.

I think every car that isnt a BMW 530 Sport is crap, and anyone who agrees with me in an internet post is a member of the Fox Fan Club (Am I supposed to get subscription revenue from that or something?).

Is now a bad time to admit that I just paid £30 for mine a few days ago?

(I thought I was doing ok considering they're £60 at the Porsche dealers)

I blagged a free set off Porsche East London with a service.

The front will curve a little with the bumper so may need to screw them on. The rear is flat though so should be fine I think.

Little worried I'll crack them when drilling the holes though.

I believe putting tape where you intend to drill helps, and also drill front to back i think it is.

Check that, there is a recommended way to drill plates.

I drilled a set last week, put some masking tape on the plate first, then hole punch to stop the drill bit skidding around, small drill then big drill from the back to front.

Takes all of 5 minutes and stops you cracking the plate trying to drill a big hole first time round.

I got around the curve issue when using sticky pads by wedging them in the front windscreen down the gap between the front windscreen and the dashboard, then letting the summer heat do it's work

Ended up with a nicely curved numperplate that I could stick straight on, just be careful not to overdo it.
