Numberplate query?

I have bought a new numberplate. I have received the certificate of entitlement which I have filled in and posted off along with the v5 and mot.

Would I need to wait for an updated v5 to be sent back to me, to put the numberplate on? Or can I do it straight away? As long as I inform my insurance of the updated registration?

Thanks.

Thanks for the replies I'll wait for the all clear. Plates haven't been made up yet.

I'll wait. Hopefully they'll do it quickly, I only ordered the plate 2 days ago!

Dvla are such tools. My car already has a private reg on so they've asked me to provide a cover letter explaining that I would like to give it up or send them a fee to retain it. What a faff.

I was under the impression they just take it off like a non private plate and transfer the private plate on. I was unaware that you have to provide a cover letter explaining you would not like to keep the previous cherished mark. I can't find any information explaining s cover letter is needed online.

Would have been much easier if they phoned me and told me to send them the letter instead of waiting 2 weeks just for a letter informing me to send them one.

Anyway you're right it's good of them to give you the option.

Contacted a few but non are interested. I'm just going to hand it back as the previous owner doesn't want it either.

Find some people with same name on Facebook. It's a bit weird but it might go to a bruv who wants it.
