Just had a bsod which said nv4.disp error driver in infinite loop. Presumably this is the nvidia graphics driver.
I have just updated it but the pc has been crashing a lot before.
Could this be caused by bad memory or is it likely that the graphics card is dieing?

Thanks

Best thing to do first is install DriverCleaner, uninstall the driver then use DriverCleaner to remove all remaining Nvidia files. Then reinstall the latest version.
If it still does it, get Memtest and run it over night to see if there are any problems with memory. If not then you could need a cmplete reinstall, or maybe something else is faulty (GFX, mobo, CPU).

I have faulty memory and memtest fails, i am in the process of replacing the motherboard as the memory tests fine in another system.
I was just wondering if this error could be due to my memory problems, and it sounds likely. I'll have to see if it happens again once i have my memory issues sorted out.

Thanks for your help.

Thats reasurring. Glad to hear thats its possible to be caused by the board.
I'll be sending mine back for replacement as soon as i can be bothered to dismantle everything.

Were you getting memtest errors?

No, its a 6800gt. I gather this error can indicate a fault with just about anything.
