nvidea drivers

That'll be why the drivers aren't installing then most likely, and not because of the boards BIOS, as i remember others having problems getting their 1070/80s working, until they'd updated their Windows 10 to the latest.
 
I was telling my daughter about what is happening and she webby searched and came up with the same conclusion about doing the update so will do that tonight and see what happens. Thanks for all the help guys...
 
Ok guys all updates done and new monitor and gtx1080 in and working cant thank you guys enough for your help. One more question as the card has HDMI and DP connectors will it matter which one i use for this monitor, the manual is very very vague on them.. thanks again.
 
andicole0 it did say all up to date but i did not know the anniversary edition update had to be done manually, i just assumed automitic updates meant that. But i live and learn from the fountain of knowledge..

Use the DP connection. I am not 100% sure, but I don't think the HDMI connection has the bandwidth if you want to overclock the monitor to 100Hz.

Think of windows 10 version 1511 and 1607 as two different windows versions. The automatic update just applies the updates that are relevant to whichever version you have installed.

You were still many updates out prior to the anniversary edition, something was wrong with your updates. 10240 was back in the preview days.
Glad you got there in the end though ;-)
