Ok bit of a wierd one for me but i supose its a easy answer for some of you computer wizards ;)

Ok obviously 7950 is the 7 series..but i was just looking randomly at computers and past this compter with 7 series aswell, but allot downgraded to 7950 down to the 7300...im just wondering why the 7 series 7950, and the 7 series 7300 wont fit the same motherboards...

surely they should do....

the computer i was looking at was above average standards aswell, with 2gb pc5300 ram, Core 2 duo e6600, 320gb Hardrive, then the 7300 512mb graphics...the motherboard is a foxcon not sure what model or anything because it didnt say...i did some research and looked it up elsewhere..so aparntly that motherboard wont go with the 7950

What 7950? If it is the 7950GX2 then Nvidia basically wanged two chips onto one card which is why it doesn't work with every motherboard. The other option is that the motherboard doesn't support PCI-E 16x and someone has said that the graphics card needs that (it doesn't, providing the slot is physically long enough it should work). Those are just the first two options that come to mind.

If that doesn't clear it up then don't post the website if it is a competitor but if you post the specifications (blanking any competitor names) it might help someone to figure out the situation. :)

my motherboard now has a pci-e slot and the 7950GX2 fits in perfectly.....but its not compatible still..every time i tried installing the drivers it froze on me and then the screen went doolally..then to make the screen come back on i have to put my old card back in boot it up...then shut it down...put the gx2 back in..and it was ok..untill i did install drivers again then it froze exactly the same ....

something to do with the bios i supose... so thats why i went and bought the asus a8n32..but as i say bummed everything up..now i gotta sell...

so ye thats why im abit confused as when you buy the gx2 the things what they tell you if you want abit of help is...if it has a pci-e slot it should fit ...so i thought cool mine does so i bought it...and yes it dows fit fine but dosnt work..because clealy on the motherboard compatibly website my motherboard isnt compatible...but the 7300 is...

thanks for your reply anyway ;)

I bought an 7950GX2 about a month after they where released and was running it in an Asus A8N32-SLI motherboard with not a single problem.I only just sold the Asus board about a week ago as i upgraded to C2D system. The Asus board you have is on the Nvidia compatable motherboard list aswell just make sure you are running bios 1205 or above.
