Well finally got my GTX 280 - So far managed 675/512/1296mhz

That's quite an overclock on the memory.... wonder what the chips are on these cards, anyone know?

Hynix chips of some description, it's not clear from the code on it as to what their rated speed are.

Chip code is H5RS5223CFR which should identify it I think.

Edit: N2C = 1200MHz

I know Sammy GDDR3 is the best and cost £££, DDR3 tops out at about 2500mhz DDR speed (Approx and offically), obv can do a bit more esp if volted and cooler more.

The Chips on my card are Samsung 2500mhz at a certain Voltage but the voltage is no doubt lower as even 2400mhz is a push in hot weather a few artifacts and odd crash occur.

could you possibly run some benches at stock core speed but with overclocked memory speeds.
id like to know if adding any more memory bandwidth ontop of the huge amount it already has actually has any effect or not?

I'm using the BFG OC card. I dont have any of the popular games installed for benching so best I could manage would be a basic 3dmark vantage (and that might not tell you much) stock I believe is 617/1350/1107

Is it possible to increase the voltage to get the memory near the 2500Mhz mark? Quite curious.. :)

I game at 2560*1600 if I can so it was the right choice for me - the 9800GX2 had too many issues due to SLI (regardless of what people say).

If you have a game that has SLI issues... you have them plain and simple. Great card when it works. The 280GTX ALWAYS works and that is why I bought it.

That said I think nvidia are holding something back. Lord of the rings online the frames jump from an 8800ultra is quite large about 30-40fps in some areas.

Age of Conan I am seeing 10 frames at most. I honestly wonder if they have put a lot in place for hardware accelerated physics

Is there only 2 people out of this forum that have bought this card?

probably because of the extreme £430+ pricetag, especially when the GX2 is £150 ish less and beats the gtx 280 in a lot of tests.

Also there are no 3rd party coolers so ppl who will buy these and dont want stock cooling might aswell wait and prices will drop a little too and other ppl can put up with problems in drivers.
