Is one overkill for a music PC in a studio ? Do they run hot?

bag of spanners. About same as Intel HD. Go with the 280 if you have it. Try and see.

Its an X58 system so no onboard GFX

I currently have a 280 and it runs about 65c idle with 2 monitors. They are really quiet and pump the heat out the rear of the case (i cant hear mine on desktop over the noise of my noctua fans)
