I have a GTX680 and an Asus 24" monitor that has a refresh rate of 60Hz. How can I get 3D in my games? I've seen the nVidia Vision kit but I see 2 variants. One comes with an IR receiver and the other is just the glasses for £30, is that all I need?

You need a 120Hz monitor and one that's 3d vision ready (although I do believe you can get any 120hz to work with 3d vision with some faffing - but not something I've looked into much).

Oh well I'm not forking about £200+ just to get 3D

Go into nvidia control panel, click on set up stereoscopic 3D, now click on stereoscopic 3D display type and chose 3D vision discover, slip on a pair of those cheapo cardboard blue red 3D goggles and load your game of choice, works absolutely fine with 60hz monitors and give you an idea how your games would look with the full 3D vision kit, but remember, Nvidia 3D vision is much better.

I rushed out and bought my 120hz monitor and 3D vision kit after trying 3D vision discover. You'll either like it or loath it.

You would need the NVidia emitter and glasses, you can buy extra goggles so more than one person can view 3D.

Those cardboard jobs are pennies, these here..

I got mine out of a dvd movie, some dvd movies have the 3d option and stick a pair of goggles in the box. I have seen Anaglyph plastic glasses in gadget shops for about a tenner but that's because they're made of plastic. Check your dvd movie cases, you just might have a pair in one.

The vision kit from NVidia works fantastic, not all games are suitable but those that do work are stunning, some games are 3D vision ready like Trine 2, this game would blow your mind if seen using full 3D kit. Remember though, you will need a 120Hz monitor for the NVidia kit.

3D is worth a try. I thought it would be a 5 minute wonder but absolutely love it. triple screens pumping out 3D is jaw dropping in Tomb Raider.

Gregster are you using the 3D Vision kit? I really want to try it. All this stems from watching 3D on my parents new LG 47LA620V TV. Watched Reck It Ralph and was totally blown away! Also was watching this guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMJZVn582mk

EDIT: and that the second time you've changed your signature in 15 mins! ;)

Yes mate, like you, I invested in a 3D TV (Samsung 8 series 46") and love it. The 3DVision kit is built into my monitors and uses Lightboost, which makes everything clearer and not dark like normal 3D.

My sig is on a rotation of 4 different ones :)

Ah so you've got a 3D TV. My parents have but I haven't. Then I remembered my GTX680 does 3D. So I still need a 120Hz monitor even if I get the nVidia vison kit?

Afraid so. I can't remember how much it is for the kit but it isn't cheap for a 120Hz (£250) monitor and I guess around £80 for the kit?

I got the 3DVision kit and glasses not really knowing whether I would like it or not. I find it's great for slow paced stuff like Metro 2033, really adds to the immersion (although imho not as much as surround/eyefinity). I have only used it for about 4-5hours so far but find myself standing in the tunnels in metro just looking at pipes cos they look so interesting!

Hate it for proper action-filled FPS though, like BF3, BC2 and doesn't work with other games i wanted to try with it like AVP and Crysis, which is a shame, so I might not keep it once I've completed Metro 2033 and LL.

You can either buy a 120Hz monitor and the Nvidia 3DVision Kit (which includes glasses) or you can do like Gregster did and buy a 120Hz monitor with the 3D emitter built in and then u only need to buy the Nvidia glasses.
