I'm looking at the Palit GeForce GTX 260 (GX-004-OE). I'm guessing its 3D capable since anything above the 8800GTX should be, what I'm wondering is do you also need the 3D Vision now module?

Thanks for all the input its really appreciated, yeah, maybe I should have spent more time checking out the gfx card but damage done now. Just bought the monitor too, went for the viewsonic... will let you know how it goes.

ok guys n gals, got all the goodies last night.. All went together with mininum fuss (win 7)

I wear glasses and have a particularly big head but the glasses they provide fit comfortably so dont worry so much about that.

I've tried a few games;
BF 2142
Torchlight
Fallout 3
Dragons Age
Dawn of War II
Borderlands

Its like playing games in IMAX. I'm really impressed so far (and so was the girfriend)

Havent got a headache yet from playing with it.

Borderlands isnt that good, its the way they made the game look not the tech so I'm not that bothered. Fallout 3 is great but the crosshair needs work. I need to play with the nVidia control panel as it has an alternative but seriously ppl its not that big a deal.

The other games I mention are incredible, really get a good feel of perspective.

I'm gonna try 2142 multiplayer tonight and see how CoD looks as well.

I've read reports about the tech that nVidia use being the worst of a bad lineup but if thats true they still deliver a product that does what it says.. its 3D.. good quality 3D across a wide range of new and old titles.. So far worth it.

42inch 3D??

now if only I had 5k spare.

I need to correct something about the FPS games.. the sighting.. its a bit of a pain.
Basically when you play with the games sights then as you focus on the reticle the target blurs into two and when you focus on the target the reticle blurs into two, I'm guessing its how it handles distance since the ingame reticle is also displayed in 3d it has a virtual distance that causes problems. The hardware cursor the drivers can overlay is ok as a workaround but I need to play more with it, had problems updating 2142 that took most of the night to fix :(

Also loaded up spore, that looks great too.

Has anyone got any specific requests? I'm still over the moon with it even despite the FPS issues.

'Depth perception' is variable, you can change it realtime via a scrollwheel on the 3d vision module. Spacial awareness is great, Dragons Age is incredible as an example altho I need to check out Avatar. Piloting the gunship in 2142 is also a lot of fun in 3D due to the extra awareness it gives for things like foliage and buildings.

Downloaded the benchmark demo of it, it runs well although I personally dont think its quite as good as DoW II or Dragonage. They seem to counter the reticle problem by using the laser sight and it looks to work too. Still got the feel of depth and perspective just think I've seen better so far :)

Also..
Empire-Total War, excellent performance.
Mass Effect, excellent. Both really give a great depth of field and you really get a feel for the 3d environment.

Borderlands - Tried this again disabling dynamic shadows and depth of field and it looks a lot better but for some reason the hardware cursor doesnt work and targetting is challenging, still it looks good.

I tried UFO - Enemy Unknown too but that failed.. guessing d3d is a requirement for this tech.
