I'm seriously considering getting a 3D monitor and the Nvidia 3D kit as a treat for myself, I'd love to hear an opinion from someone who uses it and find out whether its really worth the initial outlay!

I'd be playing quite a wide variety of games with it, i.e anything from Shogun 2 to DCS A-10, rather than watching 3D movies as i really won't use it for that so its mainly the gaming opinion I'm after..

cheers in advance

A friend of mine has a 3D set up and whilst he raves about it I personally think it is a gimmick. You can see the 3D but it has a distinct flicker that I can see (other may not though) and I had 3D back on the SEGA Master System and things haven't moved on.

If it was my money I'd go Eyefinity. Useful when you are gaming and when you aren't.

I have the kit and love it arma 2 flight sims and driving games are great on it and batman AA is amazing . although eyefinity is good the bezels on the monitoer would annoy the hell out of me.
I have no hesitation of recommending the kit i did as you did , and bought the lot.
The glasses are well made and comfy , i have never noticed any flicker, your m8 may not have the monitor set to 120 hz?
If your a fps fanatic that loves high kill counts then dont use it as aiming is def harder,
but as said driving games take on a whole new meaning with roads streching way into the screen .....

to be honest I'd love to get that depth of field for flight sims, and I dont really want to be running multiple monitors in my box of a room, space is at a premium as it is! And as I play fps games aswell im assuming it can be switched back to 2d fairly easily?

there is a button on the ir sender one push and it goes back to 2d , m8 if your into flight sims your going to love this , the cokpits look like there comming out of the screen !

well I don't exclusively play flight sims so i'd be looking for an improvement with other games too, plus does it affect game colour at all i.e looking washed out through the glasses?

I have the Asus with the 3D kit, and a friend of mine has the BenQ with the 3D kit, and we both enjoy them.

Metro is fantastic in 3D. Racing games are completely transformed by it. I'm not convinced with some games, but flight sims sound like a brilliant idea in 3D. I might have to get one now.

The colour isn't affected. It's a bit darker in terms of brightness because of the glasses, but it's not that bad.

You could always return it under DSR if you decide it's not for you.

sod it, im going to jump in and do it! I don't know anyone who has it to see it first so its the only solution I guess...

I have it and I personally recommend it. I've watched a few 3D blu rays and tried several different games in 3D. Batman: Arkham Asylum looks totally amazing in 3D! As do the Bioshock games. I find it works best on games like that. With games like Starcraft 2, I actually found it distracting.

same monitor as me well recommended and as stated grab batman AA before it arrives from steam , plus with nvidia you get great physx effects in it to !

well seeing as its a 1/4 of this months wages I think i'll wait and see how good it is before I buy Batman lol! But seriously thanks for the advice everyone, it seems to have given enough good experiences to be a reasonably safe bet
