Nvidia 3D vision, worth it?

Hi All,

Just curious as to who is using Nvidia's 3D vision product? I have tried it on a few games in a store and was fairly impressed, especially with its catalogue of 600 "supported" games (even if it is fake 3D).

The thing I do think about is, is it worth just waiting for the oculus rift? But at the same time, it would be nice for me and my fiancée to be able to sit down and watch 3D blu rays too.

Its a marmite thing, some love it some don't, if you've tried it and are impressed then dive right Into it, plenty of great supported games to try

Tomb raider, trine 2, crysis 2 & assetto corsa are just a fist full of great 3d titles

I love it and go for something that uses lightboost, as it makes everything brighter and less strain on the eyes.

Dunno - I think its a bit of a novelty thing the effect is great in a lot of games but its just extra effort and/or not as convenient or fluid to play - after a couple of weeks or so I never really touched my 3D Vision kit again and likewise anyone else who used it and/or I let a couple of people with 120Hz monitors borrow it had a similiar opinion - great novelty but they wouldn't go out and buy one having had a play with the kit for a few days or so. While the effect is pretty decent the number of people who will or can stick with it for regular gaming is a minority.

Never used it for a game yet but use it loads for watching 3D movies, id say it's worth it so far

Gaming on it sends you bog eyed after 10 mins. Very few games are 3d vision ready. You need huge amounts of gpu grunt to max out games in 3D.

Films yes. Games, are a gimmick

Using 3d vision 2 is really a great experience, playing games like Skyrim is really fantastic and not sure why people say you need a lot of Gpu grunt my ageing Gpu is running 3d vision and it feels like its 60/120fps all the time maxed (not tried it with anything but hd mods for fear of bugs)

It's hard on GPU but not THAT hard...

As some said, it's marmite. I love 3D, though prefer the passive variety. Tried active once and the flicker was very apparent to me.

But games in 3D can be superb. Some better than others.

Just finished Tomb Raider in 3D and it was awesome.

Recently got through Batman AO in 3D, and likely to soon be playing AC4 in 3D

I have and I understand what he means. As you turn off AA, it allows for higher frames. Sure there is still some tough ones out there like MetroLL/Crysis 3 but once you tone down AA and if needs be, notch the details down a bit, you can get a very playable experience with older cards.

Playing Skyrim and oblivion in 3d vision yesterday. Looks awesome.

EDITh you mean newer games I played riptide in 3d vision but I guess it's the same as the first dead island

My only problem with 3D vision is that I'm tied to NVidia, but oh boy I will stay tied to Nvidia for the 3D loveliness, I don't really care what AMD has to offer, life without 3D vision would feel like going back to the 80's commodore and speccy era for me lol, ok, slight exaggeration but really, you have already said you tried it and liked it so I'll make it easy for you.
