NVIDIA 4000 Series

If true, 4080 is sounding like the best card to go for again, double the RT performance sounds rather tasty  But it will all come down to price. Whatever comes in for £700 or less is what will get my money.

I'm looking for a card at £750, 300W, and 75%+ RT perf over the 3080. AMD, Intel, and Nvidia welcome!

I'm really hoping amd get their RT perf. sorted as I would prefer to go back to an all amd system especially if FSR 2.0 is going to compete with DLSS but sadly I just can't see them matching nvidias lead in RT at the moment, especially from reading this thread regarding their recent purchase i.e. we'll be lucky if we see the effects of that in time for RDNA 3....

Not only is there the hardware and software side of nvidia to compete with when it comes to RT... Nvidias vast sponsorships especially with triple a games (that people actually care about) would still probably give them the edge.

Intel is an unknown but fingers crossed they can compete with nvidia and amd.

Thanks to the last 18months showing nvidia that gamers will pay almost anything, i expect the 4080 to come in near £1000...just because they can.

Odd coincidence that mining profitability has tanked and GPU's are sitting on shelves while dropping in price every week.

Wonder if invidia is taking notes *now*.

Not sure if it has been posted but...

If true.... oh dear, 3090 owners better get selling quick @TNA ;) :p :D Suspect we'll see a repeat of what happened with the 2080ti owners not being able to get more than £400-500 at most because of the 3070 perf and price....

Given I got my 3080 for MSRP, I'll probably pick up a 4070 or 4080 as if MSRP isn't much higher, in theory, the upgrade will cost me nothing or very little.... Would like to go amd but I can't see amd matching nvidias RT perf. not to mention, don't really want to lose dlss....

Power consumption is a bit of a concern now but ampere series of cards mostly undervolt extremely well, my 3080 doesn't use more than 275w at most, hopefully be the same for 40xx cards.

If MSRP for FE is similar to 3000 series, my thinking is get a xx70 or xx80 depending on if VRAM is enough, sell my 3080 on here for less than I paid but keeping the net upgrade cost to around £100, but I do have a feeling the MSRP will be way higher, Nvidia will know they sold the 3080 and 3070 too cheaply.

Undervolt plus playing at 60fps capped keeps power usage at 150w or less, on older games below 80w. I personally dont get the xxxfps stuff, its never something thats enticed me.

Scalping is tied to supply and demand. The direction the market is headed now is a result of much lower demand with miners losing interest.

I know what your saying but still can't help but feel that there will still be a lot scalpers and others blinded by a quick buck that will try their luck regardless. Me and my 1080 hope i'm wrong though... :o:D

If rdna 3 is as good as we are lead to believe, they have no choice.

True, if that's the case and prices are sensible it's win win for the consumer. Though I do remeber the hype train from the last release where the 6800XT was going to blow the 3090 out of the water. That was from someone who knew someone that worked at AMD. I'll stick with 50% max in performance.

I always find it odd how two companies can make gfx cards with performance within a gnats whisker of each-other. 'tis a bit fishy.
