As Cat says there's a lot of options below and around where the 4060 wants to sell at as one of the only redeeming things about the 4060 is that it pushes down the pricing of second hand cards as I was looking to possibly move on my rx 6600 and pick up a 3060 ti or a rx6700 XT though I think the latter might be abit too much for my 500w psu.

An RTX3060TI FE or RX6700XT should be mostly fine if you have a decent PSU which isn't ancient. Even with no custom curves,my mini-ITX system with an Ryzen 7 5700X at stock and RTX3060TI was consuming at worst around 330W at the wall, which is probably around 300W internally. With a bit of messing around the system is now at under 300W at the wall.

I didn't realise reviews were out today!

At qHD the RTX3060TI and RX6700XT demolish the RTX4060!

With RT the RX6700XT is under 10% slower on average and the RTX3060TI is much faster.

What a strange card for Nvida to release, surely they would have targeted at least beating the 3060Ti with the new 4060...?!

I honestly believe they think they can charge pandemic/mining crisis prices for any old, cut down, POS GPU they are releasing at the moment, and people will just pay it.

I've got an 13600K that I managed to get to around 130w which in Cinebench gets 23K very close to stock scores but I also have a Seasonic SII 500w from around 2009 so kinda thinking best not chance the 6700XT though this psu ran a AMD 290 non X Tri-X (275w) back in the day. 3060ti would be fine as it is roughly the same power as my old 2070 Super.

Oh the 4060 review dropped and the power consumption is good on that but no thank you.

I would probably get a new PSU anyway, because at 14 years old you would also get a nice effiency upgrade with a modern PSU.

The RTX4060 gets beaten by the RTX3060 when 8GB isn't enough:

Even J2C dunks on the RTX4060:

a 6650XT is about £70 cheaper and within 10% of it for raster while you can get a 7600 for £50 cheaper
Lets not forget AMD were planning to charge $300 for the 7600 before a last minute U-turn which is slightly worse than the 4060 when they thought Nvidia were targeting an MSRP of $350 so its not like they will do you any favours.

They've living in their own little dream world right now, it's like an apple culture thing where they thing people will buy anything cos its got the nvidia logo on it. In reality maybe it is to an extent but pc enthusiasts aren't as stupid or sheepish to follow such idiocy.

My guess is there will be a super refresh end of this year / early next where they give you the performance you should have got at each price tier by using the proper die’s instead of the tier down rubbish we got so far.

Yeah it would be nice in reality but the price point at which these refreshes land is gonna be of some concern unless they drastically drop the prices of the current line up. A 4080 super or TI should sit somewhere between 15% of the 4090 and probably sell for around 1k like the 3080ti did but we know that's not gonna happen on release. Can't see much happening inbetween the lower ranks though, its such a mess down there.

Doesn't matter what they "were" going to charge. It's what they actually charge. I was going to write something different in this thread.

The laptop RTX4060 can be faster than the desktop one:

The RTX4060 isn't even really that much faster than an RTX3060 for content creation in many cases and sometimes is slower:

PSU bought yesterday (RM550x for £65 - bargain) was waiting on 4060 but after these reviews I think I'll go 3060 or 3060TI

disappointed. Will mainly be used for HTPC purposes but still want best I can for the money (sub £300)
