NVIDIA 4000 Series

It has quite a bit only £100 over the 3090 FE price last gen now.

Kind of glad I rejected the FE this morning now, knowing it would be 60 pounds cheaper by the end of the day.

Hope this reflects in the partner cards soon. Seems like the Suprim in perticular has gone up loads since a few months ago. I get the sense no retail has had a large shipment of them recently.

Dude there is no freaking way that I will pay anything more than 850e for gpu, last time i spit serious money was for 3080ti fe,and It was mining craze and I used it for mining .. I wanna gpu with lower TDP . I returned 7900xt due to beeing heat generator and noisy..

Between 4070ti and 4080 is around 27w in gaming.

But yes, is more expensive (and more powerful plus more vRAM)

What's wrong with AMD cards? :p

I mean one could undervolt them also to be fair.
Drawing too much power and generating too much heat..I was power limit mine to 285,and it was still noisy and warm.. I have 42y and I game rarely, but When I do I wanna to be pleasure cool and silent experience, not noisy hot sweaty torture ..

@callin banc I know all of that, vram was reason I tried to give Amd chance Again, but they failed me again (I had 6800),I,'m por old fart from Croatia, and if I Didn't sell my 3080fe for 850e I would never ever gave that much money for gpu .I'm 3060ti price guy..600e max.. My paycheck is 800e

Yeah a 4090 at £1300 and and 4080 at £950 might start to become tempting. Start.

4080 should be around £800 IMO. It's a total rip off at its current pricing. I got one with an included waterblock because the 4090 was just out of my budget at the time. It works really well at 1440p ultrawide, but its pricing being quite near the 4090 is criminal.

The 4080 must be one of Nvidia's worst selling cards ever, even in the OT here I'm the last poster still... from back in April lmao https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/t...rtx-4080-owners-thread.18962426/post-36342347

With a waterblock the size of the card is a massive bonus for anyone building in a small case, so size to power ratio is great. The pricing is awful though.

No wonder you have no money if you not only flip-flop between dGPUs, but buy ones well beyond your own set budget. An RTX3080TI, RTX3080FE(?), RX6800 and RX7900XT for supposedly a person who buys £400 cards. Nobody I knows who buys that sort of card has gone through four £600+ cards in two and a half years especially if you only earn 800 Euro a month.

You should have just got a sub £400 card and put your money in the bank after you finished mining. The vast majority of my friends use cards in that range, have QHD monitors, etc. I also have plenty of friends who got AMD cards and they seem to work fine. Dropping a few settings, etc and not only can you use a cheaper GPU but these tend to be lower power too.

If I was on an RTX3080 or RX6800 I would have not upgraded until the next generation.

I seriously don't know WTF some of you people are doing with your cards.

Also look at the 3080 vs 7900xt power draw…Negative AMD PR machine probably in full flow everywhere
:D
:D
I just read the chart again - I misread the RX7900XTX as the RX7900XT. The RX7900XT is similar to the RTX3080.

TPU also use direct card measurements.

Techspot/Hardware Unboxed place the RTX3080TI as worse overall:

The RX7900XT is slightly better than an RTX3080 too.

You obviously don't know much about mining with gpus ?? dont you ? So dont bash your pretty little head with thinking..And yes shame on me for thinking that 7900xt was better/ much cooler product than 3080ti fe..
I came here with questions about specific gpus , hoping someone has it and can give me first hand impressions.. But I was wrong..

I never ever heard of mining - can you explain what it is please? Is it a recent thing? It's something to do with Doge, right?

You are the one going on about pricing and power consumption....and buy nothing but 600+ Euro cards, all of which have high TDPs and consume a lot of power:
1.)RX6800 ~ 250W
2.)RX7900XT ~300W
3.)RTX3080 ~320W
4.)RTX3080TI~350W

The RTX4070TI has an official TDP of 285W.

power-gaming.png

Techpowerup isolate the card power consumption at the power connectors, not at the wall.

RTX3080TI>RTX3080>RX7900XT>RTX4070TI>RX6800 power consumption. The consumed power is mostly given off as heat. Temperatures are a more an effect of thermal density(and cooling solution efficiency) not actual heat production. Why a Ryzen 7 7800X3D can run hotter than a Core i9 13900K,but the latter will make your room hotter.

I am surprised you couldn't see that on the chart. If an RX6800 is too much for you(and also the RTX3080TI),then the RX7900XT wouldn't solve the problem. Neither will an RTX4070TI,so instead of looking at the charts and reviews you are cycling through cards.

The problem with AMD at the moment is that it will use a lot even when the demand is not that high. In the below example, 65w 4080 vs. 213w 7900xtx.

If you want lower power, you'll need to frame lock FPS at around 60fps, drop settings and resolution.

Did a test in Cyberpunk77 with the 4080. 1080, raster only, volumetric clouds quality to off and dlss performance. The below is the result of... I don't know, an hour? In general it was around 60w +/-, fans on the card never engaged. Room temperature was 29*C. If the video above is anything to go by, in the same situation, a 7900xtx would have pulled around 200w+.

Anyway, don't know what to say about your options. Perhaps get a 4070 and enjoy, save the rest of the money for later?

TPU power draw is measured using Cyberpunk 2077:
  • Gaming: Cyberpunk 2077 is running at 3840x2160 with Ultra settings and ray tracing disabled. Textures are set to "low," to ensure that cards with 4 GB and 6 GB aren't handicapped due to their VRAM size. We ensure the card is heated up properly, which ensures a steady-state result instead of short-term numbers that won't hold up in long-term usage.
  • Ray tracing: Cyberpunk 2077 is running at 3840x2160 with Ultra settings and ray tracing enabled. Textures are set to "low," to reduce memory pressure on cards with lower VRAM size.
The problem he has gone through three...maybe four cards because of issues:
1.)RX6800(some issue)
2.)RTX3080
3.)RTX3080TI(earlier post - too much heat)
4.)RX7900XT(too much heat)

The RX7900XT is between the RTX3080TI and RX6800. The RTX4080 from the very accurate TPU testing is 304W.Plus he limited his RX7900XT to 285W. So how is an RTX4070TI going to solve the heat issues he has,if he has gone through so many cards?

That means maybe the RTX4070 as you said?

I literally said he should go for something lower end,and he got all defensive:

@tommybhoy You have had an RTX3080,RTX4070 and RX7900XT/RX7900XTX? Maybe you can chime in as a data point?

Just seen an RTX4090 for £1250.
It's a fake price that retailer on the river does that a lot and never delivers and they have corrected it now to £1645... I ordered a 3090 from them in past they never delivered and said it had no stock when I ordered it from their site direct and spent 12 days chasing them up for a refund.. Jokers so be aware of their fake prices.

They have delivered on some cheap RTX4070TI deals in the past.

Can go better than that. Check out HU latest video. They basically share that people should have just got a decent Ampere card and enjoyed 2.5 years of gaming instead of waiting for the 40 series flop offering tiny gains for more money. Steve even said as you have previous that the Turing gen was bad but Ada is worse!
