NVIDIA 4000 Series

Baldurs Gate 3 benchmarks

Sad to see AMD this far behind the 4090. With the rumour that AMD will not even release a flagship GPU for the RX8000 series (next gen), I wonder if this is the closest to Nvidia's flagship they'll ever get?

Nvidia will have free reign to charge £2000 for the 5090 at this rate, making PC gaming exclusive for those with high disposable income and consoles for everyone else.

BG3 at 144hz in Vulkan at Ultra settings with DLAA makes my 4090 fans spin high even when undervolted so I guess some optinization needs to be done. I set the limiter to 70fps and it runs much quieter and cooler and looks and feels the same.

Visuals are pretty damn nice though and the textures are really sharp.

Seems likely that AMD are just choosing to focus variously on datacentre/AI, upcoming APUs (e.g. strix halo) and probably console refreshes as well.

I think considering these priorities, putting loads of resources into an also-ran (sorry but Nvidia will almost certainly produce something bigger) PC halo GPU attempt that probably has mediocre margins and even worse volume potential maybe doesn't make sense for them.

Does BG3 have a DLSS ultra-performance option? I'd be curious to see how far you could push efficiency at 4K with that. I'm guessing you could probably still get the best result with a 4060 rather than downclocked/limited 4070-90. I think when Switch 2 comes out it will be a very interesting port, and Larian has had excellent results even on more disparate platforms, like Apple's.

good might start seeing great options for mid range where most of the market is ??? I have a feeling you would still buy at £2K ;)

How would 1 expensive graphics card make PC gaming exclusive to those with high disposable incomes?
Surely those people with lower incomes would simply buy a lower spec card, just like they do now..?

It doesn't this is just what people like to parrot now. The later 90 series seems to be a halo product, I don't think price should even factor into it. People with lower disposable incomes will just use 0% credit cards, 0% bnpl or save up a bit more if they really want it.

I'd like to see the Vulkan benchies if anyone see's a reliable one.

Nvidia cards faster in dx11

The problem with Vulkun, apart from the fact that Nvidia cards run faster in DX11 in this game, is that users trying out Vulkun report game crashes and visual artifacting
