NVIDIA 4000 Series

Agree, it was FE or nothing for me. Feels like a very premium product.

That's one thing that nobody can dispute, they're built like tanks. I had a 3070fe and a 3080ti-fe and their weight and build quality was just amazing. It screams 'premium' the instant you pick it up. Its also surprising when you pick it up for the first time as you think a lot of the weight is due to the packaging, when like 99% of the weight is the card.

Who makes the "best" (read safest/not craptacular Amazon branded stuff) 12VHPWR to 12VHPWR cables? The one that was supplied with the Dark Power 13 as a wee bit too short, so I could do with a 3rd party one.

Thanks in advance.

The serviceability of the FE card is a lot easier i find. I took my 4090 FE apart today to change the rear IO bracket to a 2 slot one and it was literally just a few screws. The smaller pcb compared to the AIO cards makes it easier to work with as well i find.

Had a 3080 Ti FE and must agree, very premium feel. I must say though my 4090 Ventus is one of the most quiet cards I've ever had. My 3080 Ti FE was pretty noisy at load.

The general advice is to get one from your PSU manufacture, so might be worth contacting them to see if they can help. Otherwise my recommendation is CableMod, they’ve just released a new revision of their 12VHPWR cable which I’m using. It’s only their adapters which have had problems with melting connectors and not the cables, in the event of a problem their support has been fantastic in getting it resolved.

**edit. To get the latest revision you will need to order direct, mine took 2-3 weeks to arrive because of Chinese customs.

The only thing i'd have to say is that, ive had two 4070's now both from Asus ( first one fan was faulty ) and they both had annoying coil whine. I still have the 2nd one and ive been able to get like 80% of it gone with spread spectrum enabled and undervolting but its still there. Gigabyte seems to be the go to for the 4000 series if you don't want to play the lottery as much
