NVIDIA 4000 Series

Too many games I played just didn't have proper 21:9 support and only really stretched 16:9. You can demonstrate this by putting an object in the centre of the screen, then moving so that the same object is in the corner of the screen; if it remains the same size then the game has proper 21:9 support. If it is stretched or much bigger then it doesn't.

Even 16:9 will be stretched at edges of the screen, just gets worse the wider you go. I tried Borderlands 2 triple monitor and was particularly bad :p Not sure there's a good way around it except in racing/cockpit games where they can just render separate camera fov for each screen.

Rumour != Fact!

Was Nvidia's own slide during 1 of their AI talks, It had around Q1 2025 slated for Blackwell. Besides they are in no rush to get anything out, AMD are apparently exiting the high end market, Intel still needs yyeeeeaaaarrrssss to catch up and Nvidia's AI centric cards are just printing money for them 24/7.

Even if they arrive before then I have an inkling the price will shock even the most hardened money burners on this forum.

so 4080 with 20gb, hmm wonder where it going to fit in price wise, not much room in between 4080/90 £1300 maybe?

This is what will happen,

Nvidia will knock the 4090 price up to £1600

Slot the 4080 ti super duper boll*cks edition into £1300 region

Down the 4080 price to £1k

Everyone on this forum = BARGAIN 4080ti! close to 4090 performance for £300 cheaper! LETS GOOOOO

4080 Super to apparently feature 20GB of memory.

RTX 4080 SUPER
  • Based on AD102 die
  • 20GB which means 320 bit memory bus width
  • Presumably GDDR6X
RTX 4070 SUPER
  • Based on AD103 die
  • 16GB which means 256 bit memory bus width
  • Also presumably GDDR6X
No current release timeline for either. But probably Q1 2024 if I had to guess.

He likely doesn't care as he's living a life most of us would love, It's just funny banter, No malice intended, Good luck to the bloke. If I could live that lifestyle I would in the blink of an eye.

Indeed, I’d happily lie to people who tell themselves lies as to why they need a 4090 and why up to £2.2k is a good price for one :D

If reviews from the site are anything to go by, a not insignificant number of people are paying £400-700 more than FE price for a 4090.

Next step for Gibbo is a nice black leather jacket, then he’s truly ascended.

Its bonkers... i still don't really know why people buy into the ASUS Tax, they are the worse offenders.

Probably because price issues aside, Asus does have some very nice designs. If I wasn't able to get a 4090 FE my next choice was a 4090 Strix, More expensive yes but the only other card outside of the Founders that I think looks very clean.

1 thing a lot of AIB's do that annoys me is they leave the end of the card open exposing all the heatpipes, Fins etc... I've always thought that looks so lazy, Founders and Strix nicely and neatly wrap the whole card and cooler up.

The 4000 series really does seem to have the most unappealing, uninspired sheath designs and 3000 series wasn't great - the FE cards are on a whole another level aesthetically.

You have to go back to the 1000 series for anything I'd say was a great looking card and things have declined since the 700 series.
