NVIDIA 4000 Series

Recorded revenues of $18.12 billion for the third quarter of 2023, up from just $5.9 billion in the same period a year ago.

"Very well" is an understatement. ;)

Market was clearly expecting more however due to the dip today. Still NVDA won't care about a small dip in share price. The revenues speak volumes.

Having the K saved me a lot of hassle with my 14700K build due to the motherboard not having a full supporting BIOS out the box - it would power up the CPU but lacked PCI-e support so only way to get a display output was via the integrated graphics - without that the troubleshooting would have been a pain and less confidence inspiring having to flash the BIOS blind.

The problem for Nvidia right now is they have all their eggs in one basket, take away the data center revenues and things are not looking good also the firms that are buying up all these enterprise GPUs need to start making money off them and so far it’s only Nvidia themselves who have made any real money out of this AI boom.

Not really. They have shown even with their focus being on ai, they're still smashing amd in the pc gaming space in terms of new features and continually improving here, if anything this is a bad sign as even with Nvidia no longer putting anywhere near as much focus on pc gaming space, they're still pulling ahead, probably because amd also don't care for pc gaming scene, they could easily turn around and just put all steam back on pc gaming scene but as we have learnt now, it's not the same getting some one of payoffs every year or 2 or 3. The scene has changed as the age of cloud, ecosystems and so on is here now.

Also, whilst Nvidia may have put all their eggs in one basket, so have every other company by placing all their eggs into nvidias basket for that AI goodness. Sam Altman before he got sacked was seeking alternatives to Nvidia as it's not good having everyone reliant on one company but again, problem we have is who is going to be able to take on a trillion dollar giant that has years ahead of anyone else?

Also, your statement about Nvidia being the only one to make money of the ai boom is true in the sense from a profit pov but the clients who are integrating/using ai into their workflow i.e. every day work tasks in order to improve efficiency/productivity are saving money now especially if it means they can lay of people etc. and reduce operating costs so ai benefit for the companies using it isn't so much about them being able to make bank from it (unless they are selling ai enhanced services themselves)

Putting tensor cores in their GPUs has paid off big time.

Even "gaming" revenue presumably going up because of AD102 sales
Gaming revenues have probably seen a recent uptick due to the china 4090 orders but on the whole sub $3b for gaming is disappointing especially now all the product tiers are out and remember they are charging twice as much as last gen so actual sales must be well down.

Out of both guilds I'm in, In my main 2 games, WoW and FFXIV, There are a lot of members and most looked at the 4000 series pricing and said "Yeah no thanks"... the vast majority are on either 1000/3000 series cards or lower end AMD cards and a fair few I know were always on the latest gen but pricing has gone so out of control they've decided instead to put their money elsewhere.

4090 average price now is £1700 with the OC (and even non OC) AIB ones seemingly going for £1900 from a quick google. FEs out of stock because of course.

Gad to have been able to get the the trinity at FE price back in April :o

Makes little sense for new buyers to pay full price or even more for a 4090 now 1 year into its life when if you were going drop that sort of cash then you could have done so earlier into the cards lifespan.

It's more the principle of the original pricing vs now

You cant grumble mate your rma wiped off a chunk too. As Jox said (below) its pointless so late into its cycle now it was madness before but now its creeping up it shouldn't be catching anyone's attention. I would not trust any rumours at all @Dicehunter they will want to shift inventory as priority I still think next year they will have a 50 series card out near the normal time.

One of the hold backs for me, in recent years, if you can afford it, the smart money has been buying the highest end card early on then move it on just as the next generation starts to appear on the horizon.
