NVIDIA 4000 Series

Looks home-made AF, unless it's an early prototype (I'd bet a home project).
Definitely a home-made project - considering Noctua / Asus's 4080 uses 2 of their full size 120mm fans and that one looks to be using slim 92mm fans.

If Noctua wanted to cool a 4090, surely they'd use their same heatsink/fan setup on the existing Asus/Noctua 4080 considering that runs at 60 deg at full load...!

Inital rumours were that it was dropping too to $999, hopefully that'll happen.

4080 Super at $999 ? Would be nice but this is Nvidia, It'll likely be £999 for the 4080 Super Founders Edition with AIB's coming in at £1200.

Not even a bit. Don't get why one would bother when next gen is a year away now. If you wanted one just get one on release. Same price and you get full use of it while it is current.

Better of waiting and getting a 5090 imo.

To be fair a year is a long time and a lot can happen in that time.

And AMD will probably sell most of them fine:

All of these companies have huge software teams,so they will be doing their own software development too.

You seem to forget AMD also makes CPUs too,and is probably aiming to sell these as entire packages for supercomputers. The fastest supercomputer in the world,ie,Frontier, uses AMD CPUs and MI250 dGPUs. That is reinforced by the fact the MI300A/MI300X APUs are socket compatible with Epyc so existing customers can slot one in. That is what they are probably aiming to do,so they are not fighting Nvidia directly.

AMD caught out

At the mi300x launch, AMD released benchmarks showing it match and beating Nvidia. What was not as clear is that AMD did these benchmarks by disabling all AI Nvidia software support and updates.

These are server GPUs they won't get as much flak for it, but this would be like AMD launch a new gaming GPU and comparing its performance to an older GPU and running the older GPU on 2 year old drivers and pretending it's a good test to show the new product is better.

This is especially paramount with AI features because the performance has been improving rapidly as driver and software updates optimize how the GPUs process models.

Once all drivers and software updates are installed, the mi300 actually loses hands down to Nvidia, complete opposite of what AMD tried to claim is a realistic test

AMD would never! :p

Suppose they and their fanbase will try to say but no one wants to pay for nvidia features or uses them :D

Just goes to further show folks, none of these companies have your best interests at heart.

I don't belive it. AMD are the good guys. They would never lie like that or if they did not be so stupid to be cought out like that. Surely. Right?

Right...

This is precisely why I do not understand why anyone champions any corporation, They are all run by the sleaziest scum imaginable.

pre-emptively crushing any hopes AMD had with its new GPU launch

You do realise all these doom and gloom articles come from one contributor at Forbes - Karl Freund, and all he is doing is reposting Nvidia marketing slides.

If you bothered to read the articles you post:
"Nvidia has just released a blog that counters AMD's claim that its latest chip, the MI300X, is 40-60 % faster in latency and throughput than Nvidia in inference processing for generative AI. Here is one of AMD’s slides at the MI300 launch event, which we covered here."

So shocker as tech companies sling mud at each other. So what has this got to do with your statement? You promised AMD would have no chance selling any of their chips.

I posted an article saying they would have no problem selling them, and you seem really concerned AMD might even sell a few of them.I know people who have experience in the area - the large companies have massive software divisions which have their own software stacks.

Microsoft is the largest software company in the world. Amazon and Google have large software divisions. They all have dabbled in even designing custom hardware. AMD will sell whatever it makes. Nvidia will sell whatever it makes. So will any other companies too.

This is precisely why I do not understand why anyone champions any corporation, They are all run by the sleaziest scum imaginable.
Exactly,so why is Grim5 saying AMD or any other company will have no chance selling AI products?

He literally is posting Nvidia marketing slides saying they beat AMD marketing slides, then slagging off AMD for posting slides say they beat Nvidia. Oh noes! One company says they beat another, and another then releases slides they now beat them. I am waiting for the next set of slides, when Intel or someone else releases something that says how they beat them both.

I pointed out,Nvidia,AMD,etc will all have no issues selliing what they make because of the surge in interest in AI.

Agreed. That's just as *beep* as what AMD seemingly did. But that's Grim for you. A black or white kind of guy. No shades if gray

End of the day AMD will sell loads of AI gear. These big companies buying don't want to only stick with Nvidia as they know Jensen will keep extending the lead and increasing margins.
