Why do you think EVGA left? They couldn't keep up their usual quality and it be a reasonable price at the end of it.

I did not know that....
Keep on topic please
Nvidia wants to eliminate middle man and keep the profits for themselves. 3dfx history going full circleYeah there is no doubting the quality and unboxing experience of the FE cards, and the latter does matter where you're buying an expensive item, Nvidia like Apple understand that, if you're spending £800 on a GPU and its slide in boxed with cheap packing foam its disappointing. Its doesn't feel special.
The reason Nvidia are able to do that and undercut AIB's is because Nvidia aren't selling the GPU to themselves for only 20% below MSRP out of which they need to put a cooler on it and some how be left with enough margins to make a profit, Nvidia are competing with their own partners and they control their partners costs and profits.
AIB 4070ti super down to $699 in states, rip off uk again, see the 70/80 supers fe selling well, still in stock
I thought it was vanilla 4070ti stock clearance.AIB 4070ti super down to $699 in states, rip off uk again, see the 70/80 supers fe selling well, still in stock
I would have rather the card came wrapped in newspaper but cost £700.I now understand where all the money goes for the FE’s, the packaging! Better than Apple is this 4080S, and the build quality on the cooler seems immense. I have no idea how AIB’s have the cheek to charge so much more.

Fancy packaging and an over engineered cooler are all well and good but your paying for these things and they’re not making the card faster.
Premium products use the 102 die, the 104 which has now become the 103 was all about offering good performance for a reasonable price.Premium products deserve premium packaging in my opinion.
And they have certainly made it faster then my 3080
I think some people need to stop living in dreamland about nvidia releasing another card like the 3080 which offers an unbelievable upgrade in performance at a cheap price, times have changed. I really hope they do the same with the 5080 and make me eat my words, but I just can’t see it happening.
Nvidia has basically just cut the price of the 4080 by $200 so I'd say it's working quiet well. One is setting themselves for massive disappointment dreaming of the return of performance gains/pricing like the good old days.
How has relentlessly complaining/whinging about it helped in the last 10 years and why would it work now?

So only the fastest card (4090) is classed as premium? Even when you weigh up the price increase against extra performance over the 4080S? I don’t care what die they use tbh, it’s the 2nd fastest card they make in that line up, seems to be built to a really high standard and well engineered (the cooler especially), comes beautifully packaged as a whole, that equals premium in my eyes
Second fastest card so far, a 4080Ti for sure will be out to fill that gap and if a 4090Ti comes out then the 4080s will end up forth fastest card on the 40 series line up and the original 4080 will end up fifth a $1200 GPU.
A 4080Ti SUPER doesn't appear too...Which wouldn't surprise me this generation with Nvidia's shenanigans
In the overall index, the 4080 Super is 53 percent faster than a 6800 XT and 51 percent faster than a 3080. If you now select in the Full HD benchmark, the scenario changes slightly. The 4080S is 45 percent faster than the 6800 XT and 51 percent faster than a 3080. The counterexample Ultra HD tightens the distances to the 4080S somewhat: 58 percent is upwards with a 6800 XT, 55 percent with a 3080. WQHD and UWQHD are in between. Compared to older and slower GPUs, the spacings are correspondingly higher.
In the overall RT index, the 4080 Super is 115 percent faster than a 6800 XT and 63 percent faster than a 3080. If you now select the Full HD benchmark, the scenario changes. The 4080S is now 100 percent faster than the 6800 XT and 48 percent faster than a 3080. The counterexample Ultra HD tightens the distances to the 4080S: 131 percent is upwards with a 6800 XT, 81 percent at a 3080. WQHD and UWQHD are in between. Compared to older and slower GPUs, the distances are considerably higher, which is due to the violent graphic load due to ray tracing.
Going off that logic it may as well be the 27th fastest card when the 9080 appears.
I can imagine they may release a ti super at some point to be fair, but I was meaning what you can buy right now, rather then speculate about if buts and maybes.
