Can't be good when the 4080 super FE was in stock for over 24 hours last drop and for sure were available in double digits..Do we have any actual sales figures to confirm what the situation is?
That depends what they will focus on this time. We don't need more tensor cores as DLSS and other AI addons by NVIDIA already barely used what 3000 series had - it's mostly pro market that needs more, not gamers. More of the same RT cores likely won't help, when RT sits still in large amount on the CPU - it would have to be much more acceleration in the GPU to really make a good difference, so a different design is needed again. They also do not seem to be that eager to give more CUDA cores, because that doesn't look fancy on the marketing anymore and doesn't sell in Enterprise sector much anymore either. Chances are we'll get again similar stuff that 2k series was to 1k series - barely any faster in existing games and by the time RT became a thing, they were way too slow to support it well. Not very positive outlook when enterprise market is pushing for different things than gaming one and NVIDIA is now mostly an AI company (and Enterprise products are their main income by far), with gaming on the side only. At least AMD has time to improve their own design, potentially.Yup I can't see next gen being much better tbh, well in the sense you will probably get 4090 level perf in a 5070 but it will be £700 (which of course will look like a bargain but not really....)

Steam is not a good source, considering they do random surveys in random parts of the world each month, which means month by month it can swing madly one direction or another. And without actual information about how particular survey has been conducted it's pretty much useless for any real data comparison. Also, your assertion about number of users is wrong in this context, because they do not send this survey to all users each time - it's just small random sample each time. For example I got it 3 times in the year+ I had 4090, I got it only once when I had 3080 for few months and I got it 0 times when I had 6800XT before that. The best we can do is compare relative positions here, for a global picture.
There are about 130m active users on steam. So the 3060 with 5% means there are about 6.5m users with a 3060.

All that aside, it's still interesting to look at - 3060 series still a king; many more people seem to have 4090 than 4080 and few other things one wouldn't expect to see in 2024, but here we are.
Out with the old in with the new.
I'm guessing it doesn't line up with what you think the true picture in your head is.
Steam create this survey to help game developers to understand the real picture of the install base. They will be paying statisticians a hefty amount to design a good survey (although that doesn't make it perfect). They haven't been deliberately avoiding your 6800 XT.
People here tend to me very skewed due to being in the UK and being enthusiasts. They'd be surprised probably to hear the CPU install base split
Same here I've ordered the Dell but also pondering a 4090 to pair with itPicked up a 4080S FE. I was set on waiting for the 5000 series with my 3080, but after seeing these new 32" 4k OLEDs it's made me want to move up to 4k over the next month.
Yea, I was also tempted with the 4090! I convinced myself that with the price difference, if I get the 4080S now, I could sell the 4080S next year and get the 5080 with the money saved from getting a 4090.Same here I've ordered the Dell but also pondering a 4090 to pair with it
I hope he does not work within science. And what do you think it is? I stated clearly why it look inaccurate judging how some months changed largely the results (hint - when they surveyed mostly China, it started to show big dominance of the GPUs that sit in most of their internet cafes) and then next month changed it the opposite direction etc. To the point a bunch of articles shown up in the media about it multiple times. I guess it doesn't line up with what you think about what it really means.
Citation needed.
That has nothing to do with what I wrote.
Yeah it's not worth it unless you can get a good s/h deal tbh, 35% increase at best. Better just tweaking settings if you want to raise the fpsYea, I was also tempted with the 4090!
