"There is also a belief that AI will increase productivity, or produce higher economic growth at a lower cost, with the accompanying fear that those lower costs are due to fewer jobs as AI systems render human roles obsolete."

Nvidia doesn't care about the PC gamer market, there won't be enough PC gamers with jobs to buy them. :D

Who needs a job anyway, Nvidia share holders are making a killing, better income than any job

Just watched a bit of MLID about 5000 series and his "sources" now say it can launch as early as August. I really wish these channels dedicated to lying non stop were shut down.

nVidia usually target January, June or November for new releases, any deviation from that is due to product delays or staggered release dates. (And they wouldn't be saying August due to delays at this point).

TSMC 3nm products for companies other than Apple in any volume will be Oct/Nov, though that doesn't rule out a more paper launch mid year but the bulk of production currently is for Apple. Samsung 3nm on a similar schedule with limited availability mid year, ramping late 2024, but the bulk of nVidia's order book is in with TSMC.

at least with AMD MLID is sometimes right, but his claims about Nvidia are almost always wrong

I suspect that while mlid knows people who work at amd and feed him; he doesn't have sources in Nvidia or Intel and whatever he says about Nvidia and Intel is what's come from his AMD sources and it's just their guesses to what the competition is doing

I've not paid much attention of late but he used to just release several different versions within a few days even, even for AMD stuff, and was rarely mentioning very specific things correctly which can't be just guessed at.

Contrast with kopite7kimi for example who sometimes posts specific things which turn out to be correct like new technology names which couldn't just be guessed at, though lately he mostly seems to be guessing.

This is pre-AI orientated releases you are talking about though. The game has changed, Nvidia has changed.
Their targeted audience isn't us "peons" anymore.
We are just the stuff they scrape off their shoes. It doesn't sound nice, enticing or fair?
Doesn't make it any less true.
And shows the true idiocy of fan-boi behavior when the company that die-hards defend with their very last breath, are the same "scum" discarded when the company they defend "out earns them"

Well cards before were 2 slots thick at max now they are 4 slot +... So should hope not at the size and cost of them now and most on way smaller gpu die sizes than before too.

Power consumption has increase as well. Gtx 970 was 148w tsp. 4080 (normally the current x70 class card), which is actually a bit smaller, is 320w tdp. And very quiet.

No one cares about the jobs.let the profit rolls and governments a form of UBI :))

Same applies across their product ranges, some variations but nVidia rarely do August releases other than refreshes (partly due to a lot of staff being on their summer break).

You are still thinking about Nvidia pre-AI, they are not the same company, they are not a GFX card manufacturer , we are not their "target audience" anymore.

Whatever "rules" applied before, they apply no more. That's the reality.

nVidia works a certain way regardless of product, this isn't pre-AI thinking.

But it is, Nvidia's own words, they are an AI company. Any previous "strategies" are outdated.

They are now the 3rd biggest company on the planet, they haven't gotten to 3rd through PC gamer GFX card sales.

PC gamers are now an afterthought, get used to it.
