NVIDIA 4000 Series

4080 and the whole 4xxx would have sold better, even at higher prices, if:

- each class was not upsold, so a 4080 would have been what 3080 was to 3090.

- good, graphical intense games would have been on the market that actually PUT RT/PT INTO THE LIGHT. Pun intended. CB and AW 2 are (way) too little, too late.

True. And then you got AMD boys shamelessly saying AMD offer value or some crap like that. No mate. They provide premium products for the niche :p

Had AMD released it at £699 I would have got one straight away. That is what it should have been priced it imo.

Not had an AMD card in a while, for me to consider one it would have to be priced much lower. Picked up an Intel A770 for a couple of hundred and that's been a great cheap alternative for a second PC.

You mean if they released the 4080 as a 4060ti/4070 which it should be according to past gen die size?

Exactly especially that second point, those are the only 2 games (and portal RTX somewhat) where I felt my 3080 was really lacking and thanks to amd  FG mod made playing them with an enjoyable experience possible  That and the fact that dlss balanced and even performance mode with the 3.x.x versions are very usable and much improved.

Next big main game that will be punishing will be the HL rtx remix, hopefully be on a 50xx by then though.

What was funny with Cyberpunk is how you can (at times) "break" the illusion and see how the raster is usually done and how it remained still in - parts of it, at least. You shoot that stand and it falls over revealing the fake light behind. It even cast shadows in the stand and on yourself! :)) It would have been another game if it would have been developed around the "light play" more.

I doubt it, the 3070 only needed to be around 50% faster than a 2070 to match a 2080ti, the 4090 is 100% faster than a 4070 so the 5070 would have to be one hell of a card to make that gap.

I am not even expecting the 5070 Ti to match it. But I am expecting to be not far away.

5070 needs to be at least as good as a 4080 though.

Plus, isn't consumer Blackwell rumoured to be on the same 4N node (just an improved 5nm one)? If so the improvements aren't going to be anywhere near as large as going from crappy Samdung 8nm to cutting-edge 4N...

I thought 3nm was proving to be crazy-costly.

Whether or not they play around elsewhere, like cache etc for extra gains. Who knows.

We'll soon see how hard we'll get shafted :D
Yeah I wouldn't expect anywhere near some of the crazy numbers being bandied around atm, maybe in RT/PT only. Also wouldn't be expecting any higher than 24GB on the 5090, seems more than enough for high-end gaming and Nvidia aren't exactly known for being generous in this regard!!

Probably right if they are not jumping on latest manufacturing process.

They know 30/35% overall will do the job and sell cards, can't see them going nutso. Also there's no way in hell they'll be using that top GB202 chip with the 5090!!! Be damned expensive esp with 32GB of GDDR7...

Probably right. But who knows. Maybe the titan will be back at 3K or something?

I know some here would buy :p
